Sounding an Alarm
I remember watching television as a child in the nineties, thinking how our society had so drifted from the Judeo-Christian values it was founded on and hoping that the pendulum would swing back. Surely it couldn’t swing any further (oh, the bitter irony). Isn’t that what all 5th graders think about, lol? I was concerned about the breakdown of families, increase in divorce, lack of stability and so on.
The one thing I never envisioned was the breakdown of our system as a whole. The idea of America ever being less than a Democratic Republic, less than the land of the free and the home of the brave never did occur to me. I grew up during The Cold War. I remember having a globe that showed the Soviet Union and praying for the families who were separated in East and West Germany. I rejoiced when the Berlin wall was torn down. I prayed that everywhere would be like America.
Now we seem to have a very different generation. They don’t remember The Cold War. They don’t remember a time before AIDS and the internet existed. They've always had cell phones and laptops and for some reason they seem to believe that giving government more power will cause it to be less corrupt.
I hesitated to write anything political for my website. After all, the purpose of the site is simply to glorify God through peoples’ testimonies. However, the more I learn, the more I believe it is far less political and much more a question of good versus evil. I don’t think we have ever been in a more critical time in our nation’s history or a time where as a country we have been less informed. Why? Because we have to do a little digging. The media is not exactly what it used to be.
When I was a child I watched Wheel of Fortune and the News with my mother and felt pretty well informed. Basically all the news stations reported the same stories and I was taught in school that the purpose of news was to only to report - never to persuade. Somehow I think those same news stations had a mid-life crisis and found a new purpose in life. If you don’t believe me test it out for yourself. On any given day look at the stories reported - and those not reported on The Epoch Times, One America News Network, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and any others you like. You’ll be amazed how some stores are reported and some magically forgotten as you migrate from one station to the next. Add to that all the stories and videos removed from You Tube and Facebook and you just might start to think something fishy is surely going on.
The first time I noticed this was in regards to a video about Covid. Its fairly low-key. Several doctors who actually have experience treating Covid cases, in white medical coats talking about Covid. Nothing disturbing. They simply said that Hydrochloroquine is an effective treatment and should be made readily available. And, that children don’t typically become extremely ill from exposure to Covid. So, it would be far less disruptive to their lives and better for their overall health to resume a normal lifestyle. Not exactly hate speech - but it was taken down for providing “misinformation”. Odd, seems like the 1st Amendment makes allowances for “misinformation.”

The next instance that rather stood out to me involved all of the rioting. With every fiber of my being I believe that George Soros and Antifa are the machine behind most of the rioting. Funny, Soros essentially “owns” all of the major networks, funds Black Lives Matter, Antifa, Planned Parenthood and generously contributes to the campaigns of both political figures and justices. He does this discretely through large donations (over 8 billion to OSF along) to entities such as the Open Society Foundations and the Democracy Alliance which then funnel money to varies “causes.”

Then, I was sent probably the most disturbing video yet. Not that it was violent or difficult to watch - only to stomach. Essentially it describes how web traffic was initially monitored to help combat terrorist attacks but this quickly became a much more sinister operation. Private firms run by well-known politicians and public figures have used this data to manipulate, trap and blackmail both individuals and the general public. Including several attempts to derail the Trump Administration. It’s well-documented and seems like it should be out of some Hollywood movie instead of the America I know. Oddly enough, the reporter featured in the video was arrested the same day that the video was released. She was charged with several felonies for a domestic disturbance back in January where none of the parties chose to press charges. The video was quickly removed by You Tube for “hate speech.”

Finally I stumbled across this interview on The Epoch Times. Perhaps not quite as controversial as the first three instances but some of the same conclusions were drawn by the author. Also, very much worth the investment of time to watch.

So why all this information on a simple little website with inspiring stories, recipes and antidotes? Just last week I was at the park with a mom who said that she didn’t keep up with the news or politics because she didn’t like either candidate. A few days later I was visiting with another mom who also wasn’t aware of any of this because she had become frustrated with any attempt to read the news. Another mom simply didn’t have time. Meanwhile, I am reminded of a quote.

Add to that all of the parallels between the US in 2020 and Cuba in the 1960s - promises of free education and healthcare, attempts to defund the police, attacks on capitalism, a generation that seems desire to demonize and erase American history and you have an awfully dangerous combination. Sprinkle in isolation and fear, rationalize the “need” for universal mail-in ballots and it makes me wonder if this just might be the generation. Perhaps the impossible is possible. Perhaps even Rome fell.
